Blog Tour + Review: Playing for Keeps (Hot Jocks #1 )

I received this ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

I've never been so stupid in my entire life.

Elise Parrish, my teammate's incredibly sweet and gorgeous younger sister, should have been off-limits, but my hockey stick didn't get the memo.

After our team won the championship, our flirting turned physical, and I took her to bed. Then shame sent her running the next morning from our catastrophic mistake.

She thinks I don't remember that night - but every detail is burned into my brain so deeply, I'll never forget. The feel of her in my arms, the soft whimpers of pleasure I coaxed from her perfect lips....

And now I've spent three months trying to get her out of my head, but I'm starting to understand she's the only girl I'll ever want.

I have one shot to show her I can be exactly what she needs, but Elise won't be easily convinced.

That's okay, because I'm good under pressure, and this time, I'm playing for keeps.

Playing for Keeps is a brother's little sister romance. Justin has been friends with Owen and Elise for over twenty years. Lately he's been having feelings for Elise, Owen's younger sister, but he hasn't acted on those feelings because he knows she's off limits and he worries that his upbringing makes him wrong man for her. Elise has had a crush on Justin for most of her life. She tries to fight it but one night things go further than either of the ever thought possible. One night leads Elise to fulfilling her fantasies of sleeping with the guy she's been pining after for years and Justin gets a taste of Elise after so years of longing. The story progresses from their. The two of them pretend that nothing happened and it takes them three months before they talk about what happened between the two of them. Elise and Justin then decide to be friends with benefits and keep feelings out of it. As the story goes on, Justin and Elise have to fight with their feelings becoming more than friendly and decide if they are brave enough to go there with each other.

I really enjoyed Playing for Keeps. It was a fun, sexy read that made me chuckle on occasion. I actually read it twice. I listened to it a month ago and decided to read it again when I received an ARC copy. I wanted to make sure I was able to give a good review. It's been a long time since I reread a book and it kind of felt like when I first listened to it. I loved it that much and it was still that good. I liked Elise a lot. She was such a sweetheart and strong and straightforward for the most part. She tried to be honest with herself and Justin about how she felt and where she thought the relationship was going. Justin was kind of moody for the first part of the book and his personality didn't really shine until he and Elise decided to be friends with benefits. His backstory made it clear why he was the way he was. I thought their relationship was hot and actually very sweet too. They fit together and the fact that they'd known each for over twenty years made it kind of easy for them to fall into a relationship. I also loved how Kendall let the whole brother's baby sister scenario play out. I understand an older brother feeling apprehensive about their sister dating their best friend, especially when that best friend is someone who sleeps around but I hate when the brother stays angry for way too long about two adults decided to sleep together or date. Owen was upset about it but he came around pretty quickly and his main issue was actually how his and Justin's relationship was going to change and he made it clear Justin shouldn't screw over his sister. It was done really well. I loved Becca, Sara, and Teddy. I liked the little I saw of Asher and Bailey but I hope we get to know them better in the next books of the series. This was the perfect first book and I really loved it.

Now, I cannot wait to read All the Way! I need Becca and Owen's story like yesterday. I need September to come quickly so I can read it. I'm really excited about this series!!
