I received this ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Doppelbanger; A person who bangs someone solely because they look similar to another person they want to bang. At thirty-five, Gina Bourque is still playing the field. If he’s single, in his early twenties with dark hair and brooding eyes, there’s a damn good chance you’ll find him in her little black book. Jeffrey Ryan never imagined that at nearly forty he’d find himself widowed and a single dad. But here he is—stumbling through this thing called life with two impressionable daughters watching his every move. When Gina and Jeffrey meet while cruising the Caribbean, sparks fly and not in a good way. He’s too old. Too blond. Too stiff. Yet she’s still drawn to him like a moth to a flame. She’s too vulgar. Too sassy. Too wild. But she ignites something inside of him he can’t ignore. We all know what happens when you play with fire. . . someone’s bound to get burned.
My Rating: 5 Stars
I picked up Dopplebanger just to read a little while I ate. Four hours later, I was finishing this hilarious book. I laughed so much while reading it from start to finish. I cannot remember the last time I read a book in one sitting. The last time I could not put a book down. The last time I read without feeling guilty and a need to write. Gina and Jeffery were delicious together and I enjoyed their instant chemistry and the growth of their relationship. It was funny that they both went into the relationship not wanting anything serious and ultimately falling for each other. The supporting cast is what really made this book what it was. Kyle (aka Savage) was my absolute favorite character in this book. The things he said had me laughing out loud on so many occasions. I loved Willow too. Willow and Kyle together was comedic gold and so adorable together. I actually liked seeing Jeffery interact with Kyle because Jeffery just couldn't believe the things that came out of that kid's mouth. I loved Evangeline, Spencer, Cooper, and the twins as well. They rounded out the story.
I loved the author's writing style and I could relate to the setting since I am from the south too. This was a really sweet book and I cannot wait to try something else by this author. I highly recommend this book if you're looking for a fast, fun, sexy read to take your mind off real life for just a little while. You'll love Jeffery and Gina and swoon over their romance.
